What you see here is our premium Antique Tachi, featuring one of our best blades. For this series, we take High Speed T10 Steel as blade material, and treat it with a traditional clay temper, quenching, and fine polishing process to create the perfect edge for cutting and blocking. Each blade is fully handmade by our craftsmen with years of experience in forging, shaping and polishing blades.

The blade is hand sharpened using a 13 stage hand polishing/sharpening process. This process is designed to create an edge that is extremely sharp, and a finish that brings out the character of the sword. The 13 stage process is extremely time consuming, and it is the premium polish we offer, far superior to both the 10 and 12 stage polish.

The main unique feature of this tachi is the clay tempered process and true geometric Yokote. Clay tempering is a process in sword forging where clay is applied to the blade before heat treatment. The different thickness of the clay applied causes the blade to undergo differential heating process. Each blade is truly unique, and exhibits it's own character. The hamon on the blade is actually quite striking and visible from just about every angle.

With the finish on this blade you can expect to see the full character of the tempering line on the blade. The koshirae fittings and saya are meticulously crafted from 100% copper. These fittings are more traditional, and will offer a superior balance due to the higher weight (pulling the balance closer to the tsuka). In addition, the quality of our copper fittings is far superior to that of our Alloy line.
